THE CUT
Acrylic + Ink
11" x 14"
2006

NOTE: "The Cut" is one of my interpretations as to why people cut themselves. Though I personally don't partake in this ritual, to my dismay, there's a lot of people I'm close to who do, and asides from being a "cry for help", I often hear people explain how it's kind feels like a "release" from whatever it is that plagues them.
Of course I realize also that when one cuts themselves, the self inflicted wound is never really as deep as how I illustrated it, but I had to make sure the message was clear, and a cut like the one illustrated does the job.

I can't find anything else to relieve myself except for writing. And no, not the darkness/pain/silence/hottopic style poetry, but real stuff.

Weird. Still like it though, yay for bunny skulls.

its very true
but concerning the image, the purple colors are very well blended and awesome as always

According to ancient belief, evil spirits need an opening out of the body they are trapped in, so ancient exorcism rituals included piercing and cutting, and in extreme cases, boring holes into the possesed person's skull.

The cat has always been associated with the moon. Like the moon it comes to life at night, escaping from humanity and wandering over housetops with its eyes beaming out through the darkness.

I like this alot. The concept, the actual drawing and your interpretation. Probably the only good portrayl of self harm i've seen, most being insulting it or cry-for-help poetry.
:icongamirk:
actually, that's a really good interpretation to me!
